Governing Council
Governing councils make it possible for the community and parents to:
Contribute to school based decision making at a range of levels.
Be involved in establishing the shared values and expectations that guide the direction of the school.
Work towards a shared responsibility and joint action for education at Fulham Gardens.
The school governing council ensures that the views of all sections of the parent community are taken into account when setting directions for the school. A range of committees have been established enabling the voice of significant sections of the school community to be heard.
The council aims to provide understandable information and allow time for community discussion and feedback.
The governing council is a signatory to the school’s Partnership Plan, sets the school fee and approves the school budget. It is active in fund-raising to achieve school goals. As an employer, council oversees the management of the Canteen.
Parents are elected to the governing council at a general meeting of parents held in February each year. The governing council has a number of subcommittees.
